All are welcome to this materially rich poetry discussion and creative writing workshop at the Poetry Foundation. We will investigate how poems “materialize” through interaction with the physical world in the work of Jen Bervin, Cecilia Vicuña, Danielle Vogel, and others.

Together, we will explore how uncommon materials can shape and transform language, the poetic process, and the poetic form. In a guided creative writing workshop, we will practice working with physical materials to craft original poems as hard as a rock, as swift as a river, or as smooth as silk.

Presented in partnership with the Smart Museum of Art
